Guess whose birthday it is this month? I’ll give you a hint…he’s really hairy, he loves cuddling, and he goes crazy over leaves.
That’s right…Denver! He turned the big ’1′ on February 2nd, and we just couldn’t resist getting him this awesome birthday present.

Back to Telluride
Guess what? Remember when we went to Telluride for our anniversary here? Well, we loved it so much, we couldn’t imagine how beautiful it’d be in the fall when the leaves change. So, last weekend, we went back. We stayed at the Peaks Resort in Mountain Village this time…and…Denver got to come! I know, it sounds absurb. He was amazing though, he’s quite the cultured pup now.
Anyways, unfortunately, due to the exceptionally dry summer Colorado had, the weekend (which normally is the perfect weekend) we had had booked for nearly 6 months ended up being a week too late. About 90% of the fall color had already fallen off the trees and blown away. However, as always, Josh took it upon himself to find the 3 spots left in Colorado where there were enough trees, so we got some wonderful pictures. And Denver? He’s just a natural male model.
The first few are iphone shots…
And here he is in all his modeling glory…
After all that modeling, Denver was hungry…so he made us go through Freddy’s drive-thru.

Buster & Denver: Best Dogs
As mentioned in a previous post, here, Buster, my family’s 4 year old golden retriever made the 16 hour drive w/ my family to meet Denver, our 5.5 month old golden retriever! Denver has a tendency to be annoying, but Buster soon learned how to give it back to Denver. Soon, they were obviously best friends. Josh took this picture of them out on the Wyoming farm…and sometimes, a picture is so good it’s worth its own post.
Well, our little Denver is 5 1/2 months old now and not quite so little anymore. He knows sit, stay, lay, circle, can keep a treat on his nose, how to ‘kennel up’, where outside is, and how to retrieve. He is so wonderful. He’s got such a fun personality and just loves to sit near us. We couldn’t have picked a better puppy for us. Here are some more recents pictures…we couldn’t be prouder parents!
Well…we did it. We went camping. There were some definite high moments (seeing our puppy so happy), and some definite lows (can you say 20 degree night?). However, when we weigh the two together, I think the highs have it. Josh found us a wonderful spot near Mt. Elbert called Halfmoon. We set up, Josh got us a good fire going and Denver was in puppy heaven. With the creek right next to our camp site, he could play in the creek anytime he wanted. I think our pictures are proof enough.
While camping may not be the summer activity I dream about, it was so nice to get away and spend some time together. Josh is a great outdoorsman, and that makes everything better. I’m a lucky girl…and Denver’s a lucky pup.
